Willow was our first foal by Larkspur Ripples out of our very impressive TB mare, Minnie McGinnis. In many ways she is the striking image of her damn, however her sire has contributed lovely bone, a more compact body and a lot of natural muscle. She has shown an intelligent and accommodating nature since the day she was born and she is keen to interact and quick to learn.
She could probably turn her hooves to most disciplines, but I think she will be ideal for someone wanting a horse with class, presence and correct confirmation for show-hunter events. This young mare is a very ‘pretty’ horse and she has real charisma and in the right hands I believe that she will go a long way. She also has good bone, a really nice neck and shoulder and plenty of muscle behind.
For the last 8 months, and on an on-going basis Willow is being professionally handled ever week by someone who is exceptionally capable of working with young horses. As a result, Willow has had all of the basics firmly put in place by someone who is capable of instilling confidence and sensibility into young horses. She did not flinch when she was first asked to wear a bridle and saddle, and she has also been sat on for the first time and completed some basic work in a roundpen.
Willow was bred to sell, and whilst I have been hoping to retain her along with the rest of my fillies, our change in breeding direction means that she is now available to the very best of homes.
Buy her at this price, and then either finish her off yourself. Alternatively you can buy her at this price, and we can negotiate with her current trainer for her to finish Willow ’s training. She is very fond this young mare so I know she would be more than happy to see her happily working under saddle before going to her new home.
If she does not sell, we will continue her education as per our current arrangement and she will then be offered for sale again in spring as a young horse with a bit of mileage.
