TB x Stationbred
Bright bay filly
Sire: Meersbrooke Sparkling Ripples
Dam: Petite Pom xx Likely to mature approx 15.3hh +
Born Oct 2010
Paddock name: Sparkle
We were so pleased with the cross between this mare and Larkspur Ripples (SkyHi Velocity) that we decided to try again – only this time we had an opportunity to use the full brother – Meersbrooke Sparkling Ripples who is taller than his brother and currently out competing and comfortably jumping 1.50m.
This stallion is also being marketed for sale (see link) and is likely to be sold overseas, which makes Sparkle quite possibly one of the last of his progeny. As Meersbrooke Sparkling Ripples only stood at public stud for one season – there are not a lot his progeny available, and already some have been sold to the USA. Combine this with the fact that SkyHi Velocity is currently under saddle and has been identified as a Grand Prix pony prospect at the tender age of 4 – you can see why we were keen for another try at mixing these bloodlines.
Whilst Sparkle’s sire speaks for himself, her dam adds some extremely valuable TB lines to the mix. Petite Pom’s family includes a number of TB’s who are highly regarded within showjumping circles – including Hyperion, Nasurullah and Son in Law. However, more importantly her pedigree includes Blue Peter – who is the sire of Sailing Light, who in turn sired Lady Killer – one of the most influential TB stallions to ever be incorporated into the Holsteiner stud book and sire of stallions such as Landgraf and Lord. With these lines we are sure that Sparkle is going to make us proud.
She is a favourite of everyone who visits, mostly because she is exquisitely pretty and feminine, but she is also incredibly athletic and she simple stands out. Quite a big ask on our farm where we have spots and dilutes in most of our paddocks! At this stage the plan is to retain Sparkle until she is started under saddle – however we will accept genuine inquiries on a POA basis from anyone interested in potentially purchasing prior to this.
