Polly is a wonderful mare whom we purchased from Vollrath, in foal to their stallion gorgeous stallion Lessing. Polly was bred following European philosophies whereby high selected TB stallions are used over warmblood mares. Polly’s dam, Seattle Rainbow is registered with the NZ Warmblood Breeders Assoc and she is by Jaguar.
Polly’s sire, Porter Rhodes was a very good looking TB stallion who stood at Seattle Lodge (former home of both Jaguar and Voltaire ll) before being sold to Ireland to be used as a sire for Irish Sport Horses. Polly has very much thrown to the warmblood side of her lineage, but has the elegance one looks to the TB lines to inject.
In 2009 she produced a spectacular colt for us – Vollrath Leonidas who was subsequently purchased back by Berny and Jutta of Vollrath. Polly will be returning to Lessing this 2010/2011 season, fingers crossed for a filly.
