Before realising our dream of breeding Knabstruppers, our breeding programme started by crossing our mares with suitable external Stationbred stallions. Stallions included Larkspur Ripples, Meersebrooke Sparkling Ripples and Omkara.
Eventually we purchased a colt of our own, Salem, who developed into a wonderful full sized buckskin pony. We have one foal by him, Eva who is now a year old. Salem has since been on-sold to a wonderful home.
We also purchased a 2nd young stallion - a Clyde cross (with appie and TB blood) who again was chosen on temperament and type and he looked to be a suitable cross for TB mares. Sadly, due to us purchasing a 2nd property, Holy Smoke was gelded prior to siring any progeny. He has now been started under saddle and is in fulltime schooling at Cheleken where he is showing promise as a show jumper. Please see his link on the for sale page
Both these stallions were sold to focus on breeding Knabs for whom we will be able to achieve KNN registration. We will continue to use NZ based outside stallions for our breeding programme, however they will need to meet with KNN registration requirements.
